Rachel Morgan is an Associate Professor of Instruction of English at the University of Northern Iowa, located in the Department of Languages & Literatures within the College of Humanities Arts and Sciences. She holds a B.A. from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and an M.F.A. from the prestigious Iowa Writers’ Workshop. Her roles include serving as Poetry Editor for the North American Review and Co-Coordinator for Cornerstone. Her teaching focuses on Rhetoric and Composition, Creative Writing, and Literature courses, while her research emphasizes First Year Writing programs, Poetry, and the integration of Service Learning in education.
Morgan’s academic contributions span pedagogical innovations, such as developing a UNI-created free textbook to enhance accessibility, and exploring how community-engaged writing improves student understanding of audience. Her creative work includes the chapbook Honey & Blood, Blood & Honey (2017) and numerous poetry publications addressing themes like health, identity, and regional culture. Her scholarship highlights interdisciplinary approaches to education, with a focus on service-learning’s impact on student engagement and social responsibility.
