Rachel Karchmer-Klein is an Associate Professor in the School of Education at the University of Delaware, specializing in literacy education and educational technology. She teaches across undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs, and serves as coordinator of the M.Ed. in Literacy and M.Ed. in Teacher Leadership programs. Her research focuses on leveraging digital tools to enhance teacher preparation and instructional design, particularly in online and hybrid learning environments. She holds a Ph.D. in Reading Education from Syracuse University (1999), an M.Ed. from Mount Saint Mary College (1994), and a B.A. in Political Science from Ithaca College (1993).

She has published widely in journals such as Reading Research Quarterly and Journal of Research on Technology in Education, and authored books including Improving Online Teacher Education (2020) and a forthcoming co-authored work on K-12 instructional challenges. Dr. Karchmer-Klein has received prestigious awards including the Albert J. Kingston Award (2020) and Distinguished Faculty Award (2016).
