Rachel Hayward

Rachel Hayward is a Professor at the SCAD Language Studio, Savannah College of Art and Design (Savannah, GA), where she has taught since 2015. She holds an M.A. in TESOL from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. in Spanish from Allegheny College. Her career spans over three decades in language education, including roles as Academic Director at the University of Southern California (2005–2011), faculty positions at Georgia Southern University, Santa Monica Community College, and the University of the Americas in Mexico (UDLA).

Hayward specializes in TESOL, ESL curriculum development, and student success strategies. She has designed courses on academic writing, grammar, and cross-cultural communication, integrating innovative methods like language labs and media-based instruction. Her professional affiliations include the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA) and TESOL, where she has presented research on topics such as using music for language reinforcement, improving faculty-administration collaboration, and evaluating video portfolios in education.

Her contributions include program development, student advising, and workshops on volunteer opportunities for international students. She has also led curriculum design for business English communication at Lewis & Lopez Language Services in Mexico.
