Rachel Germany is an Assistant Professor of Law at Drexel University's Thomas R. Kline School of Law. She holds a B.A. in Political Science from Yale University, J.D. from NYU School of Law, M.A. from Columbia University's Teachers College, and M.S. in Criminology from the University of Pennsylvania.
Her research focuses on criminal law, education policy, and youth advocacy, with particular emphasis on:
- Impact of defense counsel on sentencing outcomes for indigent defendants
- Functional connectivity in autism and neurodevelopmental disorders
- Educational rights of unhoused public school students
- Neurobiological aspects of criminal justice outcomes
She received the 2024 Penn Criminology Thesis Award for her research examining defense counsel's impact on sentencing outcomes in Kentucky and Georgia. Prior to academia, she worked at the Equal Justice Initiative of Alabama assisting death-sentenced and juvenile life-without-parole clients, and at Advocates for Children of NY advocating for unhoused students' educational rights.
