Rachel Gardner is a Research Officer at the Department of Education, University of Oxford, and affiliated with Brasenose College. Her work centers on improving children’s literacy through early spoken language interventions.
- Educational background: BSc in Psychology (University of Birmingham), MSc in Language Sciences (University College London), and DPhil student in Education (University of Oxford).
Rachel’s research focuses on:
- Early language and literacy development in children
- Educational interventions targeting nursery-aged students, especially in deprived areas
- Methodological expertise in Randomised Controlled Trials (RCTs) in education
She has contributed to the development of the ATLAS app (Automated Test of Language AbilitieS) for assessing young children’s language skills and co-organized the student-led STORIES conference (2018). Her current studies include British Sign Language (BSL) and Theology.
