Rachel Forrester-Jones is an Honorary Professor in the Department of Social & Policy Sciences at the University of Bath and holds an external appointment as Director of the School of Health Studies at the University of Western Ontario, Canada. Her research focuses on advancing social inclusion for vulnerable adults, particularly those with learning disabilities and mental health issues, through social networks and legal advocacy. She holds a PhD in Resettlement from Psychiatric Hospital to Community Residence and has a legal background as a qualified Barrister.
Education includes a MA in Higher Education (Distinction), LLB (Hons), PhD, and BScEcon in American Studies & Sociology. She serves as Academic Reviewer for NIHR grants, Editorial Board Member for multiple journals, and is a Senior Fellow of NIHR School for Social Care.
Research interests span transitions, stigma, carers' roles, and end-of-life care for disabled individuals. Notable projects include studying MENA region social protection's role in peacebuilding, romantic relationship support for mental health patients, and Tourette's stigma reduction.
She has secured grants from NIHR, Tourette's Action, and New Forest Mencap. Her work aligns with UN SDGs related to quality education, good health, and reduced inequalities.
