Rachel Connelly is the Bion R. Cram Professor of Economics at Bowdoin College, where she has been a faculty member since 1985. She is the first woman to earn tenure in the economics department at Bowdoin (1992) and is internationally recognized for her work in labor economics, economic demography, and applied econometrics.

Her research specializes in the economics of childcare, women's time use, and work-family balance, with fieldwork conducted in the U.S., Brazil, and China. She has extensively published over 30 peer-reviewed articles, two research monographs, and 15 book chapters, including co-editing a volume on global women's time use. Her current work with Jean Kimmel examines parental time allocation and emotional well-being using the American Time Use Survey.
