Dr. Rachel Calogero is a Full Professor in the Department of Psychology at Western University and Affiliate Professor in the Department of Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies. Her research focuses on the intersection of social identities, stigma, and embodiment, with a particular emphasis on self-objectification theory, body image, and eating disorders. She founded the Stigma, Bodies, Objectification, and Resistance (SOBR) Lab, which investigates how social environments influence psychological well-being through qualitative and quantitative methods.
She holds editorial leadership roles, including Editor-in-Chief of Sex Roles, and has contributed to prestigious journals like Body Image and Journal of Experimental Social Psychology. A Fellow of key psychological associations, she advocates for weight-inclusive health approaches and challenges systemic biases through feminist frameworks.
