Alexander Mussap is an Associate Professor at Deakin University in the School of Psychology under the Faculty of Health. He coordinates the Bachelor of Applied Science (Psychology) and Honours in Psychology courses.

His research focuses include health psychology, body image, visual and self-perception, gender, and cultural and religious influences. Recent publications highlight trends in trauma, digital behavior, and LGBTQ+ mental health.

He supervises current doctoral students in topics such as sexual victimization stigma, diagnostic overshadowing, and weight stigma in eating disorders. Past students include researchers in autism, child abuse, and body image in Japanese adolescents. Grants include studies on Indigenous men's health and body image instability.
