Rachael Crew

Rachael Crew is an Honorary Research Fellow at the School of Human Sciences, The University of Western Australia (UWA). She also held a Postdoctoral Research Associate position at the University of Cambridge. Her research focuses on Obesity, Circadian Biology, Developmental Programming, Fetal Development, and Placental Biology. Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and environmental sustainability.

Key research interests include maternal-placental-fetal interactions under stress conditions, circadian rhythm impacts on metabolic health, and placental vascular biology. Recent studies explored heat exposure effects in gestation, glucocorticoid mechanisms in muscle disorders, and 3D placental imaging in humans and rodents.

Notable publications include investigations into ovine mammary gland microenvironments, adverse effects of glucocorticoids in dysferlinopathy, and nitric oxide's role in metabolic pathways. Her work has been published in journals like Journal of Anatomy, Skeletal Muscle, and Diabetologia. Collaborations span institutions globally, reflecting interdisciplinary approaches to developmental and metabolic biology.
