Rachael Barham is an Instructor in Contemplative Christian Spirituality and Spiritual Formation Coordinator at St. Stephen's University (SSU) in New Brunswick, Canada. She has taught at SSU since 2008, offering courses in Language, Culture and Identity, French, Spiritual Practices, and co-teaching the School of Contemplation. She holds an M.Min in Spiritual Formation (SSU, 2010), an M.A. in European Languages & Cultures (University of Exeter, 2007), and a BA in French & German (University of Exeter, 1996).
Her research explores contemplative spirituality, Ignatian spiritual direction, interfaith practices, and the role of the body in spiritual experiences. She is an active member of the AASEA (Ignatian spiritual directors) and the Leadership Collective of St. Croix Church. Her work emphasizes creating safe spaces for spiritual exploration through retreats, guided meditations, and one-on-one spiritual companionship.
While no formal awards are listed, she is certified as a Director of the Spiritual Exercises of Ignatius (AASEA, 2017, 2023). She co-facilitates retreats internationally, including upcoming events in Maine (2025).
