Dr Rabiul Islam is a Lecturer in the Department of Psychology at Charles Sturt University, specializing in environmental social science and community psychology. He holds a PhD in Social Psychology from the University of Bristol (1992), MA (Psychology) from the University of Rajshahi (1985), and BA (Hons) in Psychology from the same institution (1984). His research focuses on community resilience post-disasters, climate justice, intergroup relations, ageism, workplace bullying, and cross-cultural psychology. He is a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society and contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to education and social justice.

Research Interests: His work examines community disaster resilience, psychological impacts of climate change, cultural aspects of ageing, and social justice in multicultural societies. Recent studies include analyses of disaster fatigue in Australian and Bangladeshi communities, adaptive strategies for flood resilience, and the role of local leadership in recovery efforts.
Labs & Groups: He collaborates with the Gulbali Research Institute, Health Services Research Group, and Resilience Across the Lifespan Research Group. His interdisciplinary approach integrates socio-psychological and environmental perspectives to address global challenges like climate justice and human rights.
