Rabih Chattat is a Full Professor in the Department of Psychology "Renzo Canestrari" at the University of Bologna, specializing in Clinical Psychology (PSIC-04/B). His research focuses on dementia care, person-centered approaches, and health systems innovation.
Research interests include:
- Global Action on Personhood in Dementia (GAP initiative)
- Bridging biomedical and psychosocial approaches in dementia research
- Restoring connectedness during COVID-19 lockdowns
- Psychosocial interventions for dementia patients and caregivers
- Healthcare system adaptations for vulnerable populations
Professor Chattat contributes to international collaborations through INTERDEM, a pan-European research network focused on timely diagnosis and management of dementia. He co-authored the 2019 INTERDEM Manifesto advocating for integrated approaches to dementia research. He developed innovative methods to maintain care continuity during the COVID-19 pandemic when traditional home care services were disrupted.
His work emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration between researchers, practitioners, educators, people living with dementia, and family caregivers to address psychological, emotional and social needs in dementia care.
