Rabab Abi-Hanna

Rabab Abi-Hanna is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics Education in the Department of Middle and High School Education at Lehman College, CUNY. She serves as co-coordinator and adviser for the Graduate Program in Middle and Secondary Mathematics Education. Her role includes academic advisement and program coordination, alongside teaching responsibilities.

Dr. Abi-Hanna holds an Ed.D. in Mathematics Education from Montclair State University, New Jersey. Her research focuses on the interplay between teaching practices and student learning in mathematics, particularly exploring how technology influences cognitive engagement and deepens understanding of mathematical concepts. She emphasizes analyzing students' mental constructs and their voices to improve pedagogical strategies.

Her professional contributions include peer-reviewed publications in journals such as Mathematics Teacher and Gender, Feminism, and Queer Theory in the Self-Study of Teacher Education Practices, as well as presentations at national and international conferences like the Castle Conference (Herstmonceux, England), Northeastern Educational Research Association (NERA), and the Conference on Academic Research in Education (CARE) at the University of Nevada.

Dr. Abi-Hanna is a dedicated reviewer for several academic publications, including Common Grounds Publications, The Educational Forum, Journal for Multicultural Education, and Mathematics Teacher Educator. Prior to her academic career, she worked as a high school mathematics teacher and a mathematics consultant, bringing practical classroom experience to her research and teaching.

Her office is located in Carman Hall, Room B29, and she maintains regular office hours from Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm.
