Raamy Majeed is a Lecturer in Philosophy at The University of Manchester, specializing in philosophy of mind, cognitive science, and philosophy of race. His work focuses on emotion theory, metaphysics of consciousness, and the science of race/racial bias. He holds a PhD from the University of Sydney (2012) and has held academic roles at the University of Auckland, University of Cambridge, and visiting positions at Otago University, Lehigh University, and the Open University. He currently directs the Manchester Philosophy PhD programme and serves as an associate editor for the Australasian Journal of Philosophy.
Research interests span developmental approaches to emotion, racial science's impact on visual art, and narratives of national humiliation. His teaching includes philosophy of psychology, philosophy of race, and foundational topics in metaphysics/ethics. Majeed’s interdisciplinary work bridges philosophical analysis with cognitive science methodologies, particularly addressing issues of emotion classification, racial bias mechanisms, and consciousness.
Key contributions include critiques of emotion taxonomies, analyses of police shooting errors influenced by affective perception, and explorations of survival circuit theories in fear studies.
