Prof. Dr. Rıdvan Polat is a Professor at Bingöl University's Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Landscape Architecture. He holds a Doctorate in Biology/Botany from Balıkesir University (2004-2010). His academic career includes roles as Assistant Professor (2012-2016), Associate Professor (2016-2021), and currently Professor (since 2021). Polat specializes in ethnobotany, medicinal plants, plant anatomy, and biodiversity conservation. His research focuses on traditional uses of plants in Anatolia, pharmacological properties of endemic species, and invasive plant management. He has authored over 40 peer-reviewed articles, three books, and edited several journals.
