Alpaslan Koçak is an Associate Professor at Bingöl University's Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics. He has been affiliated with Bingöl University since 2009. His research focuses on Systematic Botany, Plant Chemistry, and Chemotaxonomy, with an emphasis on essential oil analysis of aromatic plants and phytochemical investigations of Turkish flora. He holds a Doctorate in Biology (2008) and a Master's degree (2004) from Firat University, alongside a Bachelor's degree (2001).
- Education:
- PhD in Biology, Firat University (2008)
- MSc in Biology, Firat University (2004)
- BSc in Biology, Firat University (2001)
His research interests include systematic botany, chemotaxonomic studies of plant species, and the chemical characterization of essential oils. He has published extensively in international journals such as Industrial Crops and Products and Journal of Agricultural Science and Technology, contributing to understanding plant biodiversity and phytochemical profiles. His work often involves collaboration with Canadian institutions for comparative studies on coniferous species.
Dr. Koçak has advised at least one Master’s student, Ahmet Vecdi ÇAKICI, and led research projects investigating endemic plant species in Bingöl province. His contributions include studies on the antimicrobial properties of essential oils and chemotaxonomic differentiation of plant taxa through GC/MS analysis.
