Dr. Slinger Jansen is Associate Professor at Utrecht University, Faculty of Science, Department of Software Production, where he leads the Software Ecosystems Security research group. A pioneer in software ecosystem studies, he co-founded the International Conference on Software Business and International Workshop on Software Ecosystems.
His research examines ecosystem governance, API management maturity, blockchain platform selection, and trust infrastructures. He developed the FAIRSECO research impact measurement framework and SearchSECO global open-source index. Recognized with the ICSOB 10 Year Achievement Award (2019), his work bridges academic research with industry practice.
Jansen teaches courses on software business, ICT startups, and ecosystem security. He serves as Associate Editor for Empirical Software Engineering and advises technology startups. His external activities include independent consulting on software ecosystem governance, resilience modeling, and platform strategies.
