Dr. Quyen D. Chu serves as the Roy L. Schneider Endowed Professor of Surgery and Chief of Surgical Oncology at Howard University College of Medicine, concurrently holding the position of Associate Director of the Cancer Center. With over two decades of surgical expertise, he specializes in complex oncological procedures including gastrointestinal malignancies, sarcomas, skin cancers, and cytoreductive surgery with Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC).
His academic foundation includes a Bachelor of Arts from Dartmouth College (1986-1990), Doctor of Medicine from Brown University School of Medicine (1990-1994), and Executive MBA from Centenary College (2011-2013). Clinical training encompassed general surgery residency at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center (serving as chief resident) and surgical oncology fellowship at Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
Dr. Chu's research spans hepatopancreatobiliary surgery, gastrointestinal cancer therapeutics, and innovative applications of gene therapy in peritoneal carcinomatosis models.
