Dr. Qun Shao is an Associate Professor and Deputy Director of Open Innovation at the School of Management, University of Bradford. He co-founded the Bradford UK-China Healthtech Open Innovation programme and the RCUK China Science Bridges programme, securing £1.3m in funding. As co-founder and Chief Operations Officer of Crystec Ltd, he oversees international research operations and pharmaceutical particle design projects.
His research focuses on applying knowledge engineering and AI to pharmaceutical formulations and Traditional Chinese Medicine modernisation. He collaborates with institutions like the Shanghai Institute of Material Medica and Tsinghua University, and has published over 30 scientific articles.
Dr. Shao holds a PhD in knowledge engineering and artificial intelligence applied to pharmaceutical manufacturing, with a multidisciplinary background in science, engineering, and information technology. Fluent in English and Mandarin, he previously worked at a national chemical research institute in China.
