Quirine Amelink

Quirine Amelink is a Visiting Fellow at the Health Care Governance (HCG) department within the Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management, Erasmus University Rotterdam. Her academic work centers on health policy, healthcare governance, and the intersection of law and medical practice.

Dr. Amelink's research interests include:

• Medical Malpractice, especially in neurosurgery and surgical specialties
• Legal duties and constraints for healthcare supervisors and civil servants
• Sexual abuse prevention for people with intellectual disabilities in residential settings
• Healthcare regulation and inspection mechanisms in the Dutch context

Her recent publications (2021-2025) demonstrate a consistent focus on healthcare regulation and patient safety. She employs observational study designs to analyze malpractice claims, risk factors for surgical specialists, and incidents of abuse. Her work often utilizes data from the Dutch Health and Youth Care Inspectorate, highlighting systemic issues and legal challenges in healthcare governance.
