معرفی
Quang Nguyen Luong is an Assistant Professor at the American University of Paris (AUP), affiliated with the Computer Science, Math, and Environmental Science Graduate Program. His research focuses on the physics and chemistry of star formation, leveraging large telescopes and data science methodologies. He teaches courses like Science of the Universe, Astronomy, and directed studies in radio astronomy, exoplanets, and machine learning. Prior roles include lecturer at McMaster University and fellowships at KASI, NAOJ, and CITA.
Education:
- PhD in Astrophysics, CEA Saclay & University Paris Diderot (2008–2012)
- MSc in Astrophysics, University of Bonn (2006–2008)
- BSc in Aerospace Engineering, Technical University Delft (2003–2006)
Research Interests: Exploring molecular cloud morphology, star formation triggers, astrochemistry, and magnetic fields in star-forming regions. He uses ALMA and SEDIGISM survey data to study stellar mass origins and interstellar dynamics. He also advocates for hands-on data science in STEM education.
Awards & Grants:
- EACOA Postdoctoral Fellowship (2014–2016)
- CITA Postdoctoral Fellowship (2012–2014)
- Simons Foundation Target Grant
- Three consecutive IAU funding awards (2013–2015)
Academic Leadership: Organized the Star Formation in Different Environments conference series and served on advisory boards for Vietnam astronomy initiatives. Active in promoting astronomy education in remote regions of Vietnam.
