Quan D. Mai is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at Rutgers University's School of Arts and Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from Vanderbilt University (2018). His research examines how work conditions, race, and spatial contexts intersect to produce social inequality, focusing on nonstandard employment, labor market precarity, and environmental policy. He has been interviewed by Slate's 'Better Life Lab' about gig work's sleep impacts.
