Quamrul Mazumder is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the Department of Engineering, College of Innovation and Technology, The University of Michigan-Flint. He holds dual expertise in mechanical engineering and business through his PhD and MBA degrees. His career spans over two decades with progressive academic appointments from Assistant Professor (2006-2012) to Associate Professor (2012-2018), culminating in his current Professor role since 2018.
- PhD in Mechanical Engineering (2004)
- MBA in Business (1998)
- Registered Professional Engineer (Oklahoma, 2000)
His research focuses on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Multiphase Flow Analysis, and Wind Energy Systems, combining technical rigor with educational innovation. Key projects include studying pressure drops in industrial piping systems and developing small-scale wind turbine prototypes.
Recent publications reveal a dual focus on engineering fluid dynamics and pedagogical methodologies. While his CFD studies address mechanical flow systems, parallel work in 2012 explores cross-cultural learning styles and metacognition tools in education.
Mazumder has secured significant National Science Foundation funding ($149,857) for evaluating online metacognition tools in large classrooms. His professional roles include Graduate Program Director (since 2024) and former Associate Chair of Engineering (2014-2016).
