Qiquan (Josh) Wang, Ph.D., is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Delaware State University (DSU), part of the College of Agriculture, Sciences, and Natural Resources (CAST). He holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Science (Chemistry) from Zhejiang University (2000) and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in wastewater treatment technology at Cornell University (2004). His research focuses on the occurrence, behavior, and remediation of organic contaminants in environmental media, including water, soil, and indoor dust, with emphasis on emerging contaminants like pharmaceuticals and pesticides. He also investigates the impact of contaminants on soil microbial health and food safety.
Dr. Wang's expertise includes advanced oxidation processes for contaminant degradation, analysis of phthalates and mycotoxins, and water quality assessment. He collaborates widely on environmental chemistry projects and serves as an investigator for trace contaminant analysis. His teaching spans courses in general chemistry, environmental chemistry, and advanced analytical methods.
Notable grants include leadership as PI on NIH-funded projects studying antibiotic-pesticide interactions and environmental chemistry education, and co-PI roles in NSF and US Army initiatives involving nanomaterials for environmental remediation. His work bridges fundamental research with practical applications in pollution control and sustainable environmental management.
