Dr Qingxiu Bu is a Senior Lecturer in Global Law at the School of Law, Politics and Sociology, University of Sussex. He joined Sussex in 2013 after teaching roles at Cardiff University (2007-08) and Queen's University Belfast (2008-13), where he directed the LLM in Law and International Commerce. He has held visiting positions at Harvard, Lund University, Tel Aviv University, and the Max Planck Institute.

His research focuses on Transnational Business Law, Corporate Finance Law, Global Antitrust, and International Business & Human Rights, with emphasis on legal infrastructure in transnational law and global governance. Current projects examine U.S.-China trade tensions, data governance resilience, and AI ethics.
Recent publications address cross-border data regulation, antitrust litigation in geopolitical conflicts, and SPACs' legal risks. Funded by the British Academy and British Council, his work explores the intersection of law, technology, and globalization.
Professionally, Dr Bu served as Docent at Harvard's Institute of Global Law and Policy (2013-2015) and holds the Shingka Li Professorship at McGill University. He supervises PhD students in areas like Transnational Business & National Security, Corporate Liability, and Global Antitrust.
