Dr. Angela Zhang is a Senior Lecturer in competition law and trade at King’s College London, affiliated with The Dickson Poon School of Law. Her research focuses on applying economic analysis to transnational legal issues, particularly antitrust challenges in China and the behavior of EU judges. She holds a JSD from the University of Chicago Law School and practiced law in New York, Brussels, Beijing, Hong Kong, and London before academia. Notable accolades include the Concurrence Antitrust Writing Award (2014) and a British Academy grant (2015-2017).
Education: LLB, Peking University (2004); LLM, JD, and JSD, University of Chicago Law School (2006, 2008, 2011). She authored a doctoral dissertation under Judge Richard A. Posner.
Research Interests: Antitrust in authoritarian contexts, EU judicial behavior, and transnational legal frameworks. Current projects include a book under contract with Oxford University Press on China’s antitrust challenges and collaborative studies on EU judges with political science and statistics scholars.
Teaching: Undergraduate Contracts Law & Economics, Graduate EU Competition Law, and New System of Competition Law.
Grants & Awards: British Academy grant (2015-2017), Concurrence Antitrust Writing Award (2014), Stanford International Junior Faculty Forum presentation (2015).
Media Engagement: Regular contributions to The Economist, New York Times, Reuters, and frequent speaking roles at antitrust conferences globally.
