Dr. Qingchun Yuan is a Lecturer in Chemical Engineering & Applied Chemistry at the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences, Aston University. She joined Aston in 2012 after a 7-year tenure as a Research Fellow at the University of Leeds' Institute of Particle Science and Engineering. Her expertise lies in interfacial phenomena, colloidal systems, and nanoparticle engineering with applications in petroleum production, catalysis, and controlled delivery systems.
Dr. Yuan holds a PhD in Polymer Science and Engineering from The Nottingham Trent University (2005), and prior degrees from Dalian University of Technology (Masters in Fuel Processing, 1989; MEng in Chemical Engineering, 1986). She has over 10 years of teaching and research experience at Liaoning University of Science and Technology before her doctoral studies. She is a Chartered Engineer (Royal Engineering Council, 2016), Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEAUK, 2012), and member of the Royal Society of Chemistry and Institute of Nanotechnology.
Her research focuses on dispersion systems for nanofluids, polymeric composites, and catalytic processes in fuel production. Recent work emphasizes CO2 utilization via carboxylation reactions and methane remediation strategies. She teaches courses in thermodynamics, mass transfer, process design, and nanomaterials.
Dr. Yuan has supervised 2 PhD students and published over 47 peer-reviewed articles. Her articles address topics like CO2 valorization, methane removal, and catalyst design, reflecting her commitment to sustainable energy and environmental solutions.
