Qing Yang serves as a lecturer at Sichuan Normal University and holds a part-time teaching position at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. He founded China's first center dedicated to music performance science and musicians' medicine, establishing a pioneering interdisciplinary research hub.
His academic background combines scientific and artistic disciplines: a Bachelor of Biological Science followed by Master's and Doctoral degrees in Piano Performance. He trained under renowned pianists Miho Shibata, Yukio Yokoyama, Martin Hughes, and Philippe Giusiano, developing expertise that bridges laboratory science and performance artistry.
Research interests center on optimizing musical performance through scientific methodology, with emphases on injury prevention for musicians, biomechanics of piano technique, and cognitive aspects of music execution. His work integrates physiological analysis with artistic expression to advance evidence-based music education.
As founder of the music performance science center, he leads initiatives connecting medical research with conservatory training. His professional activities include solo and chamber music performances across Japan, presentations at international academic conferences, and publications exploring the intersection of neuroscience, physiology, and musical artistry.
