Qing-Hui Chen is a Professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Integrative Physiology at Michigan Technological University, with affiliations in Biological Sciences and Biomedical Engineering. He holds a PhD from Kagawa University Medical School (Japan), an MS from Southeast University Medical School (China), and an MD from Nantong University College of Medicine (China). His research focuses on cardiovascular physiology, neurophysiology, and exercise science, particularly neural mechanisms of cardiovascular diseases, metabolic disorders, and exercise’s role in autonomic regulation.
Key funding includes NIH grants as PI for projects on neural mechanisms of sympathetic activation in heart failure and hypertension. His work spans studies on ethanol metabolism (e.g., acetate’s role in neurotoxicity), orexin system regulation in hypertension, and the impact of gut microbiota on autonomic nervous system function. He collaborates on engineered cardiac patches and investigates microRNA in plant systems.
Chen’s presentations address topics like ethanol metabolites’ effects on cardiovascular function and sympathetic nerve activity modulation. He teaches advanced physiology courses and leads the Cardiovascular Physiology Laboratory. Ongoing research explores brain-derived extracellular vesicle roles in hypertension and neuroinflammation.
