Qian Yin is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. Her research focuses on immunoengineering and biomaterials-based approaches to modulate immune responses for cancer immunotherapy and infectious disease vaccines. She leads the Laboratory of Biomaterials for Immunoengineering, leveraging synthetic chemistry, nanotechnology, and systems immunology to develop innovative therapies.
Her research interests include biomaterials design, nanomedicine, drug delivery systems, and the interplay between biomaterials and immune system activation. She explores how engineered nanoparticles can enhance vaccine efficacy and target cancer cells while mitigating immunosuppressive environments.
Recent work highlights her team’s advancements in TLR7-agonist nanoparticles for cross-strain viral immunity, localized ablative immunotherapy for tumors, and microbiome modulation to enhance immune checkpoint therapy. These studies emphasize translational potential for clinical applications.
No formal student advisees are listed, but her lab actively engages in collaborative research projects. Her work has been published in high-impact journals focusing on nanoparticle-mediated therapies, vaccine adjuvants, and cancer immunology.
Key research themes include: biomaterials engineering, immune system modulation, cross-protection vaccines, and targeted nanomedicine delivery systems.
