Dr Qi Zhang is an Assistant Professor at the School of Applied Language & Intercultural Studies in Dublin City University. She holds a BA in Chinese Language and Literature from Sun Yat-sen University, an MA in Translation from Durham University, and a PhD in Linguistics from Newcastle University. Currently, she serves as the Chinese coordinator at DCU and contributes to institutions like the Centre for Translation and Textual Studies (CTTS), IRAAL, and APTIS.

Her research focuses on Chinese language education, emphasizing digital transformation in curriculum and pedagogy. She explores multimodal approaches, translanguaging strategies, and technology-enhanced learning for CFL (Chinese as a Foreign Language). Her recent work includes studies on film title translation, error correction in MT (Machine Translation), and the impact of digital tools on character recognition.
The analysis of her 15 most recent articles reveals trends in digital pedagogy, cross-cultural discourse, and multilingual education. These works integrate technology with traditional teaching and examine sociolinguistic dynamics in minority language contexts.
Qi Zhang actively supervises PhD students and collaborates on projects related to her expertise. She is an external advisor for the Teaching Council for Mandarin Chinese and engages in academic communities such as IRAAL and APTIS.
