Puliyur Seshadri MohanKumar is a Josiah Meigs Distinguished Teaching Professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Georgia's College of Veterinary Medicine. He holds a BVSc from Madras Veterinary College (1988) and a PhD in Neuroendocrinology from Kansas State University (1993). His research focuses on neuroendocrinology, reproductive aging, stress-axis function, and the effects of prenatal programming and environmental chemicals on neuroendocrine systems.
His teaching includes Gross Anatomy, Neuroanatomy, and Endocrine Physiology. Key research areas include neuroendocrine-immune interactions and the consequences of exposure to environmentally relevant chemicals. He has published extensively in journals like Mechanisms of Ageing and Development and Cells, with recent work exploring cytokine roles in brain aging and Alzheimer's-linked pathology.
MohanKumar’s work integrates basic science and translational research, addressing topics such as metabolic dysfunction and HPA axis regulation in obesity. His studies on developmental programming highlight long-term impacts of prenatal exposures, particularly bisphenol A and phthalates, on neurological outcomes.
