Psaras McGrier is an Associate Professor in the Chemistry & Biochemistry Department at The Ohio State University. He holds a B.S. from the University of South Carolina−Aiken (2004) and a Ph.D. in Organic/Polymer Chemistry from Georgia Institute of Technology (2010). His postdoctoral research at Northwestern University (2010–2013) focused on metal-organic frameworks and molecular switches under Fraser Stoddart. His lab develops functional porous and polymeric materials for environmental, energy, and device applications. Key areas include luminescent covalent organic frameworks (COFs), electroluminescent polymers, and graphene functionalization.
Research emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration with physicists and engineers to create sensors, organic electronics, and energy storage systems. The McGrier Group actively recruits graduate and undergraduate students for synthetic and photophysical studies. Recent publications highlight contributions to molecular switches, metal-organic frameworks, and cruciform fluorophores, including high-impact work in J. Am. Chem. Soc. and Acc. Chem. Res.
Lab affiliations include the Columbus Branch of the Center for Emergent Materials (CBEC), with a focus on sustainable materials innovation. Follow @McGrierGroup on X for updates.
