Dr. Prudence Black is a Research Fellow in the School of Humanities at the University of Adelaide and a Research Associate in the Department of Gender and Cultural Studies at the University of Sydney. She specializes in aviation cultures, fashion, uniforms, and women’s workplace culture. Her research includes studies on incarcerated women’s preparation for court appearances, intergenerational knowledge in the Australian wool industry, and aviation history. She is a Primary Investigator on the ARC Linkage project Heritage of the Air: How Aviation Transformed Australia. Prudence has also contributed to museum exhibitions on fashion, design, and Indigenous culture, and undertakes corporate history consultancies. Her work bridges historical analysis with cultural studies, emphasizing gender dynamics and professional practices.
