Proscovia Nabunya

Proscovia Nabunya is an Assistant Professor at the Brown School, Washington University in St. Louis, and co-director of the International Center for Child Health and Development (ICHAD). Her research focuses on HIV-stigma reduction, mental health, and community-based interventions to improve well-being for children and families in sub-Saharan Africa.

• Current research examines Group Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Multiple Family Group interventions for HIV-stigma reduction among Ugandan adolescents.
• Principal investigator of NICHD-funded Suubi+Adherence-R2 and NIMH-funded Bridges-R2 projects, addressing HIV treatment adherence and economic empowerment among youth.
• Developed the Suubi-Mhealth mobile intervention for depression and HIV adherence in Uganda.
• Recipient of the 2025 SSWR Fellowship, highlighting her contributions to social work research.
• Prior Post-Doctoral Fellow at New York University’s Silver School of Social Work.
