Nhial Tutlam is an Assistant Professor at the Brown School and Associate Director for Research at the International Center for Child Health and Development (ICHAD) at Washington University in St. Louis. His work focuses on the intersection of war trauma, mental health, and health outcomes like suicide, substance use, and HIV among conflict-affected youth in refugee settlements and resettlement settings. He is currently leading an NIH-funded study in Uganda to understand HIV treatment adherence and developing culturally congruent interventions for refugee communities.
