Priti Mohandas is a Researcher affiliated with the Department of Geography at the University of Cambridge, where she is a PhD student supervised by Prof. Charlotte Lemanski. Her work focuses on the Politics of Transformation in South African housing contexts. She holds MA (Cantab.) in Architecture (High II.i, 2015), an MA by Project in Architecture of Rapid Change (Distinction, 2018), and an MPhil in Architecture and Urban Design (Distinction, 2020), all from the University of Cambridge and King’s College.
Her research employs a feminist-decolonial approach to explore gendered experiences of housing transformation in post-apartheid South Africa. Key areas include state-society interactions in housing policy, transitional housing models, and socio-spatial inequality. She is a member of the Infrastructural Geographies research group.
Mohandas has held roles at UN-Habitat’s Climate Change Team (2021–2022), co-founded the Future Architects Front (2021), and serves as a Design Council Expert (2021–present). She has conducted fieldwork in Cape Town, Ahmedabad, and participated in global workshops on inequality and design.
Her awards include the ESRC Doctoral Training Programme Studentship, multiple travel grants, and recognition for architectural achievements. She has presented at conferences such as the Cambridge Land Economy Early Career Researchers’ Conference and contributed to peer-reviewed journals like Gender, Place & Culture.
