Felipe Hernández is an Associate Professor of Architecture and Urban Studies at the University of Cambridge, where he directs the M.Phil. in Architecture and Urban Studies (MAUS). He is a Fellow Architect at King’s College Cambridge and has served as the first Latin American Director of the Centre of Latin American Studies (CLAS). His work bridges architecture, urbanism, and decolonial theory.

Felipe Hernández’s research investigates coloniality in architecture and urbanism, focusing on the Americas. He addresses issues of race, gender, and socioeconomic disparity in architectural practice and pedagogy. His publications include monographs on decolonial spatial history, social housing, and critical race theory in architecture.
His recent articles and books highlight modern and postcolonial architecture in Latin America, decolonial pedagogy, and social housing innovations. He co-founded the Cities South of Cancer research group and the Housing Design-Research Collaborative in Colombia, fostering interdisciplinary approaches to urban challenges.
Advising and Collaborations: He has supervised PhD students and co-founded research groups like Cities South of Cancer (2014-2018) and the Housing Design-Research Collaborative in Colombia. These initiatives focus on decolonial urban studies and social housing in Latin America and beyond.
