Priscilla Marie Ringrose

Priscilla Marie Ringrose serves as Professor of Gender Studies and French Literature at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), holding dual appointments in the Department of Language and Literature and the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies of Culture. Her academic foundation includes an MA in French and Arabic from Glasgow University (1985) and a PhD in feminist Francophone literature from Edinburgh University (2000), following professional experience as a translator and researcher at the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

Her research spans migration and gender dynamics, domestic labor systems, new media representations of Middle East conflicts, Islamic fundamentalisms, intercultural cinema, and 20th-century francophone literature. Ringrose leads major funded projects including the Norwegian Research Council's FAMREUN initiative (2023-2026) examining family reunification among unaccompanied refugee minors, and previously directed the Language, Integration, Media (LIM) project (2017-2020) focused on innovative educational approaches for migrant students. Her scholarly output reveals consistent thematic evolution toward intersectional analyses of migration, gender equality, and media representation across European contexts.

Ringrose actively contributes to international research networks as a Work Package leader in the Norway-Japan Bridging Research and Education in Gender Equality and Diversity (NJ_BREGED) project. Her academic leadership extends to directing significant national research initiatives including the Norwegian Research Council's VAM project on feminized migration (2011-2016), which produced the influential anthology Paid Migrant Domestic Labour in a Changing Europe (Palgrave 2016). Her scholarly contributions include co-editing foundational works on religious fundamentalisms and authoring the monograph Assia Djebar: In dialogue with feminisms (Rodopi 2006).
