Priscilla Gibson is a Professor at the University of Minnesota's School of Social Work, holding dual roles as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) and scholar. She specializes in culturally sensitive social work practices, particularly focusing on African American grandmothers in kinship care, qualitative research methods, and social justice pedagogy. Her work spans international collaborations, including a 2020 Fulbright Scholarship in Namibia, and domestic advocacy addressing systemic racism in education and child welfare systems.
Dr. Gibson earned her PhD from the University of Denver, MSW from Tulane University, and BS from Southern University. Her research explores strategies to combat racial inequities, including anti-racist community engagement and interventions for marginalized families. She has secured grants from the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development and the Minnesota Kinship Caregivers Association.
