Eveline N. Kalomo is an Associate Professor and Chair/Director of the School of Social Work at Wichita State University, part of the Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. She holds a PhD in Social Work (2015) from the University of Minnesota, an MSW (2014), a Master’s in International Child Welfare (University of East Anglia, 2000), and a BA in Social Work (University of Namibia, 1997).
Research Interests: Her work focuses on kinship care, population aging, gerontology, HIV/AIDS, mental health, and social development, particularly among immigrant older adults of African descent. Recent projects include studies on resilience among HIV-positive adults in Namibia, caregiving dynamics in HIV/AIDS contexts, and food insecurity among grandparent caregivers in Wichita, Kansas.
Teaching & Grants: Teaches courses on human behavior, families, and social work practice. Secured grants for projects such as:
- Resiliency among rural Namibian adults with HIV
- Caregiver resilience in Namibian HIV/AIDS contexts
- Health outcomes for grandparent caregivers in Wichita
