Preeti Malani

Preeti Malani is an Adjunct Clinical Professor at the University of Michigan School of Public Health’s Department of Health Management and Policy, a Professor of Medicine at Michigan Medicine, and a Special Advisor to the President. As Deputy Editor of JAMA, she directs editorial equity initiatives. Her career integrates clinical expertise in infectious diseases, public health advocacy, and academic leadership, with notable roles including Chief Health Officer at U-M (2017–2022) and contributions to pandemic response via the Michigan COVID-19 Nursing Home Task Force and NIH’s Operation Warp Speed oversight.
