Prathap Parameswaran is an Associate Professor and Graduate Program Director in the Department of Civil Engineering at Kansas State University. He holds the Fornelli Engineering Professorship and specializes in environmental biotechnology for waste treatment and resource recovery.

Parameswaran’s research focuses on anaerobic membrane bioreactors (AnMBRs), microbial electrochemical cells, and sustainable biorefineries using waste biomass. He operates a pilot-scale AnMBR system at K-State’s north agronomy farm for swine lagoon wastewater treatment.
His recent publications highlight advancements in bioenergy production and organic waste valorization, particularly microbial electrolysis cells for hydrogen generation and optimizing anaerobic digestion processes.
