Prasad Yarlagadda

Prasad Yarlagadda is an Adjunct Professor in the School of Mechanical, Medical & Process Engineering at Queensland University of Technology (QUT). He leads the Smart Systems Research group and has held roles such as Director of Smart Systems Research and Professor. His research focuses on Smart Systems, Rapid Prototyping, Medical Implants, and Advanced Manufacturing.

Education: PhD (Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay), ME (Bharathiar University), BTech (Nagarjuna University). He is a Fellow of multiple institutions including the Institution of Engineers (Australia & India) and the World Academy of Manufacturing and Materials Engineering.

Research Interests: His work spans Rapid Prototype Manufacturing, Control Systems for Welding, Biomedical Applications of Titanium, and Solar Energy Systems. His team explores innovations like antibacterial nanostructured surfaces for implants and microwave energy in manufacturing.

Publications: His recent work includes advancements in 3D printing biomedical materials, hospital capacity optimization, and modular bone scaffold designs. Key themes include biomedical engineering, materials science, and operational efficiency in healthcare.

Awards: Recipient of the 2007 Fryderyk Staub Golden Owl Award (Poland), 2004 Global Research Award, and multiple QUT awards for research and teaching innovation.

Grants & Projects: Secured over $3M in funding for projects like solar energy concentrators, rapid tooling techniques, and airport productivity analytics. Collaborates with global institutions such as Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology and Korean Institute of Industrial Technology.
