Prasad S. Adusumilli

Prasad S. Adusumilli, MD, FACS, is a Professor and Thoracic Surgeon at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC). He holds roles including Deputy Chief and Attending in the Thoracic Service, Vice Chair for Translational Research in the Department of Surgery, and Co-Director of the Mesothelioma Program. He is also a Member of the Solid Tumors Cell Therapy team and holds the Min H. & Yu-Fan C. Kao Chair in Thoracic Cancer.

Dr. Adusumilli specializes in thoracic cancers, including lung cancer, mesothelioma, and mediastinal tumors. His clinical expertise includes video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS), robotic bronchoscopy, and endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS). He treats approximately 600 patients annually, emphasizing personalized care and quality-of-life considerations.

His research focuses on immunotherapy and gene therapies, such as CAR T-cell therapy and oncolytic viral approaches. Supported by the National Cancer Institute and Department of Defense, his work has led to clinical trials for mesothelioma and lung cancer. He mentors surgical trainees and research fellows, guiding their contributions to peer-reviewed publications and national/international conferences.

Dr. Adusumilli earned his MD from Guntur Medical College, India, and completed residencies and fellowships in cardiothoracic surgery at institutions including Maimonides Medical Center and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He is board-certified in Thoracic and General Surgery.
