Pranay Chakraborty

Dr. Pranay Chakraborty is an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Southern Arkansas University (SAU), part of the Science & Engineering School. He joined SAU in Spring 2023 after completing a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California, Davis (2022), following his Ph.D. (2021) and M.Sc. (2016) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR). He holds a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (2011). His research focuses on micro-/nano-scale thermal transport, thermal-mechanical properties of materials, chemical detection, and physics-informed machine learning, with applications in thermal management, thermoelectric devices, and health monitoring.

His research interests include advancing understanding of thermal phenomena in nanomaterials and applying machine learning to chemical detection and materials science. Recent work highlights include studies on thermal transport in superlattices and the development of physics-informed machine learning models for material characterization.

Dr. Chakraborty’s publications span topics in thermal engineering, nanotechnology, and machine learning applications, as reflected in his selected works. He currently teaches courses in Statics and Solid Modeling (using SolidWORKS).
