Pramod Acharya is an Assistant Professor & Extension Specialist in Forage Agronomy at the University of Idaho, affiliated with the Department of Plant Sciences within the College of Agricultural & Life Sciences. His work focuses on sustainable forage production systems, soil health, and agroecological practices. He holds a Ph.D. from New Mexico State University (2023), M.S. from Eastern New Mexico University (2019), and B.S. from Tribhuvan University (2014).
Research interests include alfalfa management, carbon sequestration in forage systems, soil-water quality in perennial crops, hay production optimization, silage crop dynamics, and cover crop integration for ecosystem services. His studies emphasize resource-efficient approaches in semi-arid environments.
Recent publications explore cover crop impacts on soil carbon, nitrogen cycling, and greenhouse gas mitigation in irrigated systems. Collaborative work addresses irrigation retirement effects on dryland forage systems and silage yield optimization.
Based at the Kimberly Research and Extension Center, he advises on forage agronomy practices and contributes to outreach programs. Professional contact: pacharya@uidaho.edu.
