Dr. Jourdan Bell is an Associate Professor and Extension Agronomist at Texas A&M University's College of Agriculture & Life Sciences. She specializes in agronomic management for crop production in the Texas High Plains, focusing on sorghum, wheat, cotton, and corn systems under water-limited conditions.
Her research develops strategies for optimizing crop production and profitability amid declining groundwater resources. Current investigations include varietal selection, drought response mechanisms, herbicide efficacy in corn and sorghum, and optimization of forage sorghum fermentation for improved silage quality. Extension activities translate research through demonstration trials and educational programs.
Publications demonstrate strong focus on crop-water relationships, precision irrigation technologies, stress physiology, and practical agronomic solutions for semi-arid environments. Recent work examines cold temperature impacts on cotton, sensor-based irrigation management, and regenerative agriculture practices in dryland systems.
Dr. Bell actively contributes to agricultural extension through trial reports, management calendars, and diagnostic guides addressing field issues like wheat yellowing, volunteer wheat control, and forage safety testing.
