Pramit Chaudhuri is Associate Professor of Classics in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Texas at Austin, holding a Ph.D. in Classics and Comparative Literature from Yale University.
His educational background includes:
- B.A. (Hons.) in classical literature and philosophy (Literae Humaniores) from Balliol College, Oxford University
- M.A. in the history of art from the Courtauld Institute
- Ph.D. in classics and comparative literature from Yale University
His research spans Latin poetry of the early Roman empire, classical and early modern epic and tragedy, with specialization in theomachy (human-god conflicts) and its intersections with religious conflict, philosophical iconoclasm, political struggle, and poetic rivalry. As co-director of the Quantitative Criticism Lab, he pioneers computational and biological approaches to literary analysis, bridging humanities and data science.
His scientific recognition includes:
- New Directions Fellowship from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation
- Digital Humanities Start-up Grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities
- Digital Innovation Fellowship from the American Council for Learned Societies
